Tucked away in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon, just 34 miles west of Baker City. This area holds a vast portion of the states gold mining history. If your travel plans are leading you in this direction, I highly recommend starting at the US National Bank in Baker City. Where you can see first hand the very impressive gold display, which includes the famous Armstrong Nugget that weighs in at 80.4 oz. Then make your way down Hwy 7 to Historic Sumpter and Bourne Oregon. The Park Rangers in the area are very helpful.
